The technical team leadership of the Black Stars have been vacant following the sack of Chris Hughton after disastrous campaign in AFCON 2023 as Ghana failed to progress beyond the group stages for second consecutive time in the continental showpiece. The Ghana Football Association set up a 5-member committee to make a search for the next coach headed by Vice President Mark Addo. Five criteria were set for the next coach. A potential winner with top national team. Understanding a philosophy that aligns with Ghana DNA. Must have highest football license and 15 years experience. Proven track record in team reconstruction, organisation and development of young talent, a provendisciplinarian and tactical leadership skills.

In the wake of the search, names popped up including former coach Otto Addo who was tipped as the front-runner to return to Ghana’s dugout after his spell in the Mundial.

The GFA have went further to interview two experienced Coaches Laurent Blanc and Roberto Donadoni. Laurent Blanc who was a World Cup winner in 1998 had stints with Bordeaux, France, PSG, Al Rayyan until his last job last year with Olympic Lyon in the French Lig 1.
Roberto Donadoni another World Cup star especially in 1994 in USA is also one of the coaches interviewed by the GFA to take over as the next coach of the Black Stars. Donadoni was the man in charge when Italy went to EURO 2008 in Austria/Switzerland as he has been with Napoli, Cagliari, Parma and some other Italian clubs till his last job with Shenzhen in China 4 years ago.
