Poor Sanitation in A/R: Fines & punishments for defaulters are not heavy and severe enough
According to sanitation officer, Mr. Ofori in the Ashanti region, the penalty for defaulters who flout the rules of Sanitation in the region is not deterrent enough.
Mr Ofori speaking on Kessben FM’s Breaking News with Nyakoh Aboronamah revealed that the fine for sanitation offenses is not even up to GHC1000.
According to him, due to so not-so-severe punishment that comes along with flouting the sanitation rules, most of people are not really scared to break the rules.
He sighted examples where a gutter in Aboabo that was recently cleaned but was choked with dirt just a week after due to the given reason.
