Why GHALCA chose Asante Kotoko over defending champions Hearts for this year’s President’s Cup – Kudjo Fiano provides valid reasons
GHALCA chairman, Kudjo Fiano has explained why Kumasi Asante Kotoko was selected for this year’s President’s Cup.
The 2024 President’s Cup has been scheduled for 5th March 2024 between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and ASEC Mimosa of Ivory Coast at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Accra Hearts of Oak who beat Kotoko in the 2023 President Cup, the defending champions were overlooked this year’s game, and Kujdo Fiano the GHALCA chairman has been explaining why they chose Kumasi Asante Kotoko to play ASEC.
Kudjo Fiano speaking on Kessben FM’s Midfield Action expounded that, this year’s President Cup was to be played between the 2 champions from Ghana and Ivory Coast but due to Medeama’s participation in the CAF Champions League, they won’t be available therefore they had to replace Medeama with Kotoko who are currently playing very well.
He confirmed that H.E. Akufo Addo and the president of Ivory Coast, H.E. Alhassane Outtarra will be in attendance for the game which will be free gate.
