Chairman Wontumi arrives at Manhyia Palace with NPP bigwigs (Video)

Finally, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also referred to as Chairman Wontumi arrived at the Manhyia Palace. He is at the center of accusations that he made disparaging remarks against the Kumasi traditional council Nananom.

He had previously been called in for allegedly undermining Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene’s authority.

The Council requested that the NPP’s leadership make sure Wontumi shows up before it to address remarks he allegedly made during the screening of Manhyia South’s parliamentary candidates.

Over the issue, certain regional party officers were led to the Manhyia Palace by the NPP’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.

Chief Linguist of Otumfuo, Nana Kofi Owusu, gave the NPP instructions to submit Chairman Wontumi to the Asanteman Council in a week during a meeting led by Justin Frimpong Kodua on Monday, January 22, 2024, in the Manhyia Palace.

Wontumi was not well, Kodua informed the chiefs. “Nananom, we could not come with Chairman Wontumi because he has not been well.”

He stated that he was unable to produce the needed medical records and begged for forgiveness.

Along with other notable individuals, Wontumi arrived at the palace with Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Stephen Ntim, and Justin Koduah Frimpong.
