Whatsapp group members angry as ex-classmate they donated to help out of financial crisis relocates to Canada
A lady, took to X to lament after a former classmate who claimed to be in financial crisis got donations from them and relocated to Canada with her family.
In a series of tweets, Ego-Mbute revealed that she was added to a WhatsApp group in March 2023.
The admin told them that the purpose of the group was to contribute money for their ex-coursemate, who is pregnant with her third child but whose husband is jobless.
According to Ego-Mbute, each member of the group made a donation, with the least being N50,000 and the highest being N500,000.
To Ego-Mbute’s surprise, on January 1, 2024, she saw a post on Facebook by the coursemate they donated for celebrating eight months in Canada with family.
Ego-Mbute immediately reached out to the group admin for clarification. The admin told her that the lady who sought financial assistance blocked her after she received the donations.

@SoloJah1: “Don’t look away. Someone close was scamming everyone in the hood, they all looked away till he scammed me last year then i went to a bar in the hood and spoke out, then everyone started bringing up their stories, and he ran away from the hood. Imagine If they all didn’t look away.”
@samchido3: “Yes…I believe everybody that contributed in the group needs to know what is happening. You can go through the admin of the group so it will be official.”
@slimlinn: “Post the screenshots. Everyone who contributed has the right to know how their hard-earned money was used.”
@jerry_emy: “Somebody scammed us in our secondary school group back then with the same scope. Some people are just terrible.”
