“He is not available to play with us, so how will he play with Ghana, the Ghana coach does not follow the EPL – Brighton Coach
Roberto De Zerbi, the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, has blasted Chris Hughton, the Ghanaian coach, for including Tariq Lamptey in his 55-man provisional roster.
The 34th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be hosted in Ivory Coast in 2023, features the former Chelsea defender, who is presently recovering from an injury, on its Black Stars roster.
But Lamptey is injured and won’t be able to play for Ghana at the tournament, the player said in a press conference on Wednesday ahead of their Premier League match against Crystal Palace later tonight. He also chastised Chris Hughton for selecting the injured right-back in his preliminary squad.
“He (Tariq Lamptey) is not available to play with us, so how will he play with the Ghana national team?” the Italian manager said.
“It seems that the Ghana national team coach does not follow the Premier League,” he said.
On January 3, Chris Hughton is anticipated to reveal Ghana’s final 27-man team for the competition.
