If you nearly lost your seat in 2020, please don’t come & pick forms to contest again – Chairman Wontumi to NPP MPs

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Antwi Bosiako aka Chairman Wontumi has urged some incumbent NPP parliamentary aspirants to withdraw from contesting for the next elections.

Chairman Wontumi speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye with Akuoko Kwarteng pleaded that NPP MPs who nearly lost their seats in the 2022 elections should not pick forms to contest for reelection.

According to him, opportunities should be given to new aspirants who can beat the NDC with huge margins in the 2024 elections to add up to the numbers of the NPP to break the eight in the 2024 elections.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday 20th December 2023 opened nominations for aspiring parliamentary candidates in constituencies.

“If you nearly lost your seat or were on the verge of losing your seat in 2020, don’t pick a form to come and contest, please. We have to support people who can beat NDC candidates by far.

It’s not about money. It is about numbers that will give more votes to help in the presidential elections to break the eight.

To the delegates, polling station officials, etc, you will take responsibility for who you choose. I’m urging all of them to do the needful. We want to break the 8″ He said.

The party has scheduled January 27, 2024, for the last stage of its internal election to choose its parliamentary candidates. Nominations are anticipated to close on December 25, 2023.
