Ghana coach Chris Hughton names 55-man provisional squad for 2023 AFCON, 11 local players included

For the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghanaian coach Chris Hughton has submitted a 55-man provisional squad.

On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, the CAF website released the provisional squad, which will be reduced to a final squad of 27.

11 players from the Ghana Premier League have been included to the AFCON provisional squad.

These are the Dreams FC pair of Godfred Attuahene and John Anwi, as well as the Medeama five of Jonathan Sowah, Abdul Fatawu Hamid, Abdulai Nurudeen, Derrick Fordjour, and Felix Kyei.

Richmond Lamptey of Asante Kotoko is also on the roster, and the other local players in the provision squad are Razak Simpson of Nations FC, Emmanuel Antwi and Benjamin Asare of Great Olympics.
