REVEALED: The 45 companies government wants to grant tax exemptions

The government’s attempt to grant tax exemptions to approximately forty-five companies that Parliament was shown as One-District-One-Factory enterprises and strategic investors by the Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) has been met with notice from the Minority in Parliament that they will not back down.

The NDC MPs would employ every strategy to stop the government from granting tax exemptions to the aforementioned 45 corporations, according to Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader in Parliament.

He claims that it is alarming how many more businesses are being proposed to Parliament by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration as candidates for tax exemptions.

According to him, the Parliament has been presented with around forty-five enterprises that are eligible to receive tax exemptions, such as one-district-one-factory companies and GIPC strategic investors. The administration is requesting that Parliament provide these 45 corporations tax exemptions totaling $449, 446,247.95. That amounts to more than five and a half (5.5) billion Ghanaian cedis.

He continued by listing the 45 businesses to which the government wishes to offer tax breaks.
