NPP delegates have granted NDC’s wish by electing Bawumia as flagbearer –Yammin
National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joseph Yammin says it has been all jubilation for his party since Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was elected as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer in 2024.
For him, the ruling government played to the propaganda of the NDC by electing a man who is not a match for the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama going into election 2024.
Speaking on Ultimate FM in Kumasi with Julius Caesar Anadem, the Organizer for the opposition party however congratulated Dr. Bawumia for winning last Saturday’s elections and noted that the NDC members also need some congratulations for influencing the choice of a leader for the NPP.
“Congratulations to the NPP for selecting their leader, but also let me congratulate the NDC for the good work done and thank our stars that the NPP played into our propaganda and gave us our wish. We the NDC have been jubilating ever since Dr. Bawumia was selected by the NPP. We are happy because the NPP has given us our heart’s desire”
“Anytime you heard us the NDC say Bawumia was the weakest link within the NPP primaries, it was a calculated attempt to force the NPP to vote for him. Did you see us attacking him? It was painted so that they saw him as our biggest threat, but in fact, he is not. It worked to perfection for us” he added.
“We are grateful they gave us Bawumia”, he reiterated.
Mr. Yammin, however, notes that he predicted the percentage and vote margins of Dr. Bawumia but some NPP faithful did not take it seriously.
“We told them, Dr. Bawumia will not get more than 65 percent of votes nationwide because Kennedy was out there to prove a point, he was going to pull a surprise. With Bawumia elected, we are not going to struggle to send our message across”, he added.
