A/R: Bag of Okro now over GHC1000, Bantama market women urge Government to take action

Bantama Okro sellers have bemoaned about the increase in the prices of Okro and thus called on the government to take action.

In an interview with Kessben TV, the market women said due to the increase in the prices it is now much harder to get the vegetables on the market.

According to the market women, they now pay over GHC1000 for a bag of Okro, compared to their previous years of paying not more than four hundred and fifty cedis(GHC450) for a bag.

According to them, the scarcity leading to hikes in the price of vegetables is a result of the Galamsey activities which have been a bane for vegetable farming. They thus called on the government to as a matter of urgency take serious action about the situation.
