Juaben Traditionally Council officially announced the demise of Omanhemaa of Asante Juaben


The traditional council of Asante Juaben has officially announced the sudden demise of Nana Akosua Akyamaa the Omanhemaa of Asante Juaben to the Juaben Manhene Nana Otuo Siriboe the second.


Nana Yentumi Akyempem Gyasehene who made the announcement said Nana Hemaa passed on Sunday 10 th September,2023 at the age of 97 years.


Nana Yentumi added that Omanhemaa who ruled for 28 years had been full over the last years until her demise.


Nana Hemaa was a fervent Methodist, she was deeply involved in church activities and provided materials and support to the church groups such as the girls’ brigade, Christ Little Band, and women’s fellowship.


In appreciation of of her generous contributions, time, and resources to the church, the clergy at the Wesley Cathedral, Adum Kumasi demonstrated reverence, honor, and respect for her by reserving a special seat for her at the front row of the church.


Nana Yentumi added that Nana Akyamaa worked assiduously throughout her reign to reduce teenage pregnancy in the Juaben traditional area.


She reintroduced the time-hallowed Akan tradition of “bragro”- female puberty rites in a modest way.


She regularly brought together teenage girls to be given lessons in personal hygiene and reproductive health by health professionals.


Nana Otuo Siriboe the 2nd Juaben Manhene received the sad news at his palace as the customs demanded when all the Nananom gathered said he would officially announce the funeral arrangement to the general public in the due course.


Nana Otuo Siriboe said Nana Hemaa was a blessing to the Juaben traditional council because of how she was able to combine her work activities and traditional duties.
