We will not stop the “BOG” demonstration till our concerns are heard – Mustapha Gbande
The deputy general secretary for the NDC, Mustapha Gbande says they will not end the Occupy Bank of Ghana demonstration since they have not been attended to by the Bank of Ghana governor.
Mustapha Gbande together with some concerned citizens embarked on an “occupy bank of Ghana demonstration” on 3rd October 2023 at the Bank of Ghana premises.
According to him, the aim of the demonstration was to ensure that they were able to present their petition to the Bank of Ghana governor, Mr Anderson to resign from his seat for the country to gain financial freedom since they believe he is not performing his duties as expected of him.
Speaking on Kessben TV’s Maakye with Mr. Speaker on 4th October, Mustapha expressed his disappointment in the Akuffo Addo government for mismanaging the country’s economy.
He stressed that the Bank of Ghana has been engaging in corrupt practices which is creating financial loss in the country and they are not happy about that, therefore, labeling the people in charge of managing the country’s affairs as corrupt people.
“Bank of Ghana is there to manage the country’s money not to create loss. When this happens it creates a deficit, putting the country in a financial mess. The Bank of Ghana Act allows the bank to print money and the law is simple such that when you want to print out extra money, you have to go to the parliament through the finance minister to grant you the go-ahead in other not to put financial burden on the economy” He said.
He added that there are consequences involved when this law is not practiced and that is why they are going to fight harder in order to protect the country’s finance so that the country will gain its financial freedom.
He also mentioned that the demonstration was a peaceful one devoid of any conflict and that they were going to embark on another demonstration till their concerns were heard.
“The implications of political appointees affect the entire citizens. Everything is expensive in the country. We are going to plan on embarking on another demonstration “he added.
