FIFA delegation arrives in Ghana for GFA Election in Tamale Tomorrow
Along with other FIFA officials, Gelson Fernandes, the director of member associations for Africa, has arrived in Tamale, Ghana, to supervise the elective congress of the Ghana Football Association.
The date for this significant occasion is Thursday, October 5, 2023.
Former Swiss national team player Fernandes was accompanied by Ahmed Harraz, senior manager of FIFA Member Associations Governance Services, and Silmara Sousa, development program coordinator of FIFA Member Associations Africa.
On Wednesday morning, well in advance of the congress set for the following day, the FIFA team flew into Accra and then traveled to Tamale.
The Ghana Football Association will hold elections during the congress for a number of leadership positions. Delegates will also choose representatives for the Premier League, Division One League, and Women’s Football on the Executive Council in addition to the President. All 10 regions of Ghana will be included in the election process, and regional delegates will select their chairpersons. Two of these individuals will then be chosen to serve on the Executive Council.
