Dr. Afriyie Akoto pauses his campaign to mourn the loss of former 1st Lady Theresa Kufuor
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a flagbearer contender for the NPP, has halted his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region as a mark of respect for former First Lady, Theresa Kufuor.
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s wife passed away on Sunday, October 1.
Madam Theresa, who served as Ghana’s First Lady from January 7, 2001, to January 6, 2009, passed away at the age of 87. It’s a loss for the country.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto expressed his intention to return to Accra and pay his respects to the former president and his family during this difficult time.
He mentioned that his team plans to launch their biggest campaign in his home region for the upcoming NPP flagbearer election on November 4, 2023.
I understand that the passing of the former First Lady will prevent the tour from taking place. It’s important to prioritize mourning and sympathize with the family during this time.
He said “We cannot continue with politics when our wife has passed away.
