W/R: Galamsey activities takeover school compound
A compound of a Public school in Mpohor in the western region has been encroached with illegal mining by some members of the community.
Speaking with the Safohene of the Mpohor community, Twaa Kwame, explained that he got to know about the situation when the headmaster of the affected school reported the issue to him.
According to him, after the issue was reported, he went to the Galamsey site close to the school and caused them to put an end to the practice but to no avail.
“After being away for a while, I got a call from the district chief executive that the people were still at the Galamsey site working therefore I instructed the DCE to inform the police commander to get involved in the matter and arrest them” He said.
