Gov’t has positioned TVET to be responsive to the demands of the changing world – Employment Minister

The Minister for Employment and Labour Relations Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah has stated that the Government under the leadership of His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has positioned TVET to be responsive to the demands of the changing world of work that is to create an avenue for hands-on skills training to be able to equip the individual with self-employment opportunities which are driven the global economy.
He said, “This has made the government review the current curriculum to train the students with TVET”
According to him, the government is providing infrastructure development in the various Technical Institutions and other facilities needed for training.
He emphasized that the government will continue to strengthen its collaboration with industries to help absorb students to reduce unemployment this will shape the public perception of TVET.
Hon. Baafour Awuah underlined that globally TVET plays a vital role by equipping individuals with the requisite knowledge, skills, and competency by contributing their quote to the nation building.
Hon. Baafour Awuah who represented President Akuffo Addo at the 100th Years Anniversary Grand Durbar celebration of Mampong Technical College of Education MAMTECH with the theme THE ROLE OF TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGENDA.
They presented a citation to President Akuffo Addo for his contribution to the development of Education and one student did an artwork of the President’s portrait which was presented to the Minister.
The occasion aimed at raising funds for the construction of ultra modern auditorium for the college.
The occasion was graced by many dignitaries including M.P for Mampong and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah Director General COTVET, Nana College Council Chairman, Aluminia, and many other Government officials.
The Minister for Employment and Labour Relations Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah on behalf of President Akuffo made this statement.
Daasebre Dr. Osei Bonsu II Mamponhene made an appeal through the President’s representative that the government should merge all schools in the Mampong Traditional Area and name it the University of Mampong.
Mrs Doris Boakye Ansah Principal of MAMTECH used the occasion to express appreciation to President Akuffo Addo, Mamponhene, and all other stakeholders who have helped the school to this far.
