Statement :Special Electoral College Election – Voters Register

The Presidential Elections Committee has taken note of certain commentaries circulating in the electronic media and on some social media platforms, which have the potential of misleading the public.
The Elections Committee has been working hand in hand with the Presidential Aspirants and has been having regular consultations and interactions not only with them and their representatives but also with other relevant stakeholders.
The Provisional Voters Register has been shared with all Aspirants and other interested parties. The purpose is to enable Aspirants and other persons to help in detecting any errors for the necessary correction.
Indeed, we have received inputs from various individuals and group of persons across the country and we are grateful for their prompt responses.
The references made in the media to a purported letter from the campaign team of some Aspirants could be one of the inputs the Committee has received from interested parties, and we are grateful to all who are contributing to this exercise. We welcome this collaborative approach.
It is important to emphasize that, in the National Elections Voters list is displayed in advance for a purpose. That purpose is to give ample opportunity for people whose names have been left out to protest and be included if need be.
It also gives members of the public an opportunity to raise objections to names that should not be included, names omitted or names duplicated.
It is exactly for these reasons the General Secretary released the Register to all relevant persons and bodies including the Presidential Elections Committee.
We are aware that complaints about albums have been a subject matter of disputes in the history of our political party elections in the 4th Republic and this is exactly what the NPP together with the Presidential Elections Committee is taking steps to avoid in the current contest. It is therefore unfortunate for anyone to give the impression to Ghanaians that the Album is a fallacy.
We wish to assure the entire public that the Presidential Elections Committee is determined not only to produce a credible Voter Register but also to ensure that the election process is free, fair and transparent. In this regard, we continue to invite inputs from interested individuals and Party members.
All stakeholders are kindly entreated to send their concerns, contributions and observations to the Secretary, the Presidential Elections Committee, NPP Headquarters, Asylum Down, Accra (Telephone: 0540466684).
Thank you for your continuous cooperation and collaboration.
William Yamoah (Mr.)
Secretary, Presidential Elections Committee
