MTN set to re-sponsor Kotoko & complete Adako Jachie project
Telecommunication giant MTN Ghana may return to Kumasi Asante Kotoko as a new headline sponsor Kessben Sports is gathering.
According to the Kessben Sports desk, if the deal is sealed the Telecommunication giant will complete the Kotoko training grounds project which was started a decade ago.
In 2013 under Dr. KK Sarpong’s administration, the telecommunications giant, MTN Ghana, presented a cheque of GH¢150,000 in aid of the completion of the Club’s administration block and training field at Adarko-Jachie near Kumasi.
As of ending of 2013, MTN had contributed a total of GH¢375,000 within three years towards the construction of the projects.
Fast forward to 2023, the project is still not completed due to changes in the management of the club over the years.
In 2020 MTN Ghana suspended its sponsorship deal with the Kumasi-based football club.
The life patron of the club, Asantehene last Saturday visited the abandoned project with the circles’ leadership of the club where an assurance was made to complete the project.
The project when completed will have a gymnasium, dressing room, clinic, laundry, conference rooms, a shop, and offices designed to enhance the administration of the club.
