Fighting Galamsey: Posterity will never forgive us if we allow Galamsey to destroy our lands – Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi
The president of the Ghana National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi has called Nananom in the country to fully partake in the fight against galamsey.
He said Nananom as custodians of the lands have to be fully involved in the Galamsey fight. He indicated posterity will never forgive them if they sit down unconcerned for the Galamsey activities to take place in their various communities.
Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi noted that the menace of Galamsey is a devastating one that the country should not condone.
He called on the government to intensify the fight against galamsey since some people are adamant to shut their doors to its activities.
Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi made this call when the Ghana National House of Chiefs had its meeting in the Ashanti region.
Touching on the Green Ghana Initiative by the government, the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai paramount chief applauded the government for such a move since it is going to restore back the environment.
He said, when the Green the Ghana Campaign is well implemented and more trees are planted, the country will enjoy a good climate thereby enhancing agricultural activities and controlling flooding in the long run.
