A red-carpet welcome was organized for the 93-year-old man by the Masabo village in Kisii county as they joyfully welcomed back their long-lost relatives after decades.

After being assumed dead during the Mau Mau war, Samuel Abuga, who left his family and home 40 years ago in search of a better life, shocked his family by coming home.

Abuga’s family dispatched his grandson to pick him up from Makueni after reserving a little piece of land for him, resulting in a wonderful reunion full with emotional connections.

After their long-lost relatives returned home after being gone for decades, Masabo village in Kisii county came to life; they even gave him a red-carpet welcome where he took center stage in everything.

Just 40 years ago, Samuel Abuga left his family behind in search of “greener pastures,” and he hasn’t looked back since.

They dispatched Enock Abuga, a grandson, to fetch him, and when he went, he first informed the area chief. They interrogated him about his past and family; he found out he was his grandfather.

“We left for Kisii,I informed people back at home who started preparing for his homecoming,” said Abuga.

A granddaughter married into the family recounted being told of an uncle who disappeared years ago, and the occasion presented her with an opportunity to meet him.

“I am happy to see him live. I only get tales of an uncle who left home for good, not even his photo was at home for his memories,” said the granddaughter.
