The incident at their wedding reception that resulted in the man’s mother and wife slapping each other is what Abdullah described as the cause of the man’s rage.
It so happened that a couple from the bride’s mother’s side attended the event just as the food was being served. The only delicacy was a bit of food the bride had left for her parents.
After traveling a long distance, it would be unfair for the pair to receive nothing, so the mother-in-law contacted her daughter-in-law and beseeched her to collect part of the food to give to the couple.
The bride firmly declined, claiming that the meal was for her parents. The mother-in-law used a dish to scoop some food after unsuccessfully pleading with her son’s wife, but the bride took it back and dumped it into the food warmer.
The mother-in-law hit her son’s wife angrily, and she returned the favor. According to Abdullah, the spouse learned what had happened, opted against making a spectacle at the wedding reception, and two days later, filed for divorce.
According to Abdullah, the divorce proceeding is still going on, and the guy has rejected his mother’s requests that he forgive and forget the incident.
