GFA bans Kotoko’s Nicholas Mensah 1 year over forgery – Details

Nicholas Mensah, a winger for Asante Kotoko, has received a one-year suspension from all football-related activities by the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee.

As a result of Aduana Stars’ accusation that Mensah played against them in a Ghana Premier League match earlier this season, the verdict was made.

Mensah, who took the field to begin the match, was allegedly ineligible to represent the Porcupine Warriors. The club asserted that Mensah, now going by the name Joshua Kwame Rhule, had changed his name without getting proper documentation. Mensah used to go by the name Louis Mensah before changing it.

But the Aduana Stars’ attempt to punish Asante Kotoko for improper player registration was denied by the Disciplinary Committee. According to the committee, Dumasua Delsanco FC, Mensah’s former club, is accountable for the offense. Mensah was suspended from football activities for a year after the GFA Prosecutor ruled him guilty following an investigation.

“Asante Kotoko SC notes the decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA to issue a one-year ban from all football and football-related activity to Nicholas Mensah with a retrospective effect from 10th February 2023,” said Kotoko in response to the ban.

“The club will review the verdict before considering our next steps,” the DC verdict read.

At the beginning of the season, Mensah signed a three-year contract from Delsanco FC to Kotoko. He had three goals in eight games before the suspension.
