Hearts paid bribe to win 2004 Confed Cup against Kotoko, It was a scammed game – Abdulai (Video)
Abdulai Jack, a former member of Kumasi Asante Management, has made an outrageous assertion regarding Accra Hearts of Oak’s victory over Asante Kotoko 19 years ago.
The then Management member of Kotoko speaking on Kessben TV with Joe Laka attested that Accra Hearts did not win the 2004 confederation cup on fairgrounds.
According to Abdulai, prior to the first leg and second leg of the finals, the then management of Kotoko saw signs of inducement but however opted to let it slide.
“During our time at Kotoko, there was no way Accra Hearts of Oak would be winning trophies ahead of us.
It was only the confederation cup that they won against us and for that game before the game, we went to the camp of the players, and the way the players spoke to us you could see something was fishy.
Hearts did not win that cup on fairgrounds. It was bribing. From their supporters or the management. I’m telling you that the game was a bribe game.
The players told us. You know I was part of the management and we thought it was just too late. We know it. How can Hearts win that cup. I’m telling you it was a bribe game. The game was totally scammed” He said.
With the first leg of the game ending 1-1 in Accra, Asante Kotoko were touted as the favorite to win the 2004 Confederation Cup in Kumasi. The second leg however also ended 1-1 after Charles Taylor scored first for Kotoko in the 51st and Adjah Tetteh equalized for Hearts in the 80th minute.
Hearts won the penalty shootouts with 8-7 scoreline
