Economic challenges: Why is Bawumia not delivering lectures anymore? – Edudzi asks

A private legal practitioner and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Godwin Edudzi Tameklo has blamed the current economic challenges on what he says is the recklessness of the government.

He questioned why Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who is head of the economic management team is quiet on the challenges and not delivering lectures as he used to do when in opposition.

Speaking on the Big Issue on TV3 Wednesday, April 12 regarding the deal that the government is seeking with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mr Tameklo feared that the government’s conduct may make the deal, even if closed, immaterial to Ghanains.

He said “the current managers of the economy, to the extent that they continue the recklessness, nothing will come out of the IMF deal.”

He further asked “why is Dr Bawumia, the economic messiah not talking? Why is Dr Bawumia quiet? Why is he no longer delivering the lectures?”

But former Member of Parliament for Tema East Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover said that 2023 is the year of economic recovery for the Akufo-Addo administration.

He said “The IMF is giving us an opportunity as to how we can raise revenue to pay off our debts.”

He added, “2023 is the year of recovery … I agree that the grounds are very difficult or hard.”
