Man busted after sleeping with someone’s wife
A 34-year-old mason has been remanded by a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Nigeria’s Abuja State, for having an affair with a married woman.
Surajo Hamza, the suspect, will spend the next eight days in a penitentiary facility before his next court appearance.
The trial judge, Umar Mayana, deferred giving the defendant bail and adjourned the case to April 4 for a hearing, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Judge then ordered that the suspect be kept in Keffi Correctional Centre until the outcome of the police investigation.
Prosecution Counsel, Edwin Ochayi, informed the court that Hamza entered the business of Gloria Joseph, wife of Pius Gwaza of Kuruduma, Asokoro, Abuja, and began having intercourse with her before being caught red-handed by her husband.
Hamza then got into a confrontation with Gwaza, the woman’s husband, and hurt him and his wife with a sharp weapon.
During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the crime, which the police claim violated Sections 97, 242, and 387 of the Penal Code.
Hamza pled not guilty when he appeared in court.
