Refurbished Kumasi Central Mosque to be reopened on Friday

The rebuilt Kumasi Central Mosque will be commissioned on March 3, 2023, in Kumasi Asawase in the Ashanti region of Ghana.

After financing the reconstruction and enlargement of the prayer site, Vice President Dr. Mahamud Bawumia will conduct the formal reopening of the mosque.

The newly built mosque has been expanded from 3,000 to 7,000 seats, making it the largest in the region and one of the largest in the country.

It also features 11 equipped offices, a 40-person Imams’ office, and a 40-person Chief’s office.

After a request from the Kumasi Metropolis’ Muslim community, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cleared a 56-year accumulated ground lease arrears of the Kumasi Central Mosque in 2020.
