A/R: Galamsey activities extended to homes in Kyekyewere

According to a report filed by Kessben FM’s Mallam Yaya, illegal mining activities have been extended to homes in Kyekyewere near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

The reports noted that the illegal mining activities are fronted by Chinese miners who have reportedly sought permission from some of the powers that be in the Kyekyewere.

The chief of the area in a telephone conversation with Mallam, however, stressed that he’s not the one who granted the Chinese access to mine but has initiated a move to ensure that the activities are stopped.

According to the residents of the area, the illegal miners conduct their activities at night.

Some claim that they have received threats from Chinese miners in their efforts to stop the Chinese from carrying out their activities.
