Another Grammy loss for Rocky Dawuni

Having failed at his two previous attempts to grab a Grammy win in 2015 and 2021, expectations were high this year for Ghanaโ€™s Rocky Dawuni to secure Ghana its first Grammy laurel.
But it appears Ghana must bang its hopes for better news in future following Rocky Dawuniโ€™s loss at the 65th Grammy Awards Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles yesterday, February 5.

Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikodeโ€™s โ€˜Bayetheโ€™ won the Best Global Performance award beating other competitors such as โ€˜Udhero Naโ€™ by Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar โ€˜Gimme Loveโ€™ by Matt B and Eddy Kenzo and Last Lastโ€™ by Burna Boy.

The song that earned Rocky Dawuni the nomination was โ€˜Neva Bow Downโ€™ which features Blvk H3ro. It was released on September 22, 2022.

Last year, Rocky Dawuniโ€™s โ€˜Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1โ€™ album also got a nomination in the Best Global Music Album category.

This comes after his sixth studio album, โ€˜Branches of The Same Treeโ€™ was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in December 2015.

Apart from gaining international recognition with his music, Rocky Dawuni is also known for songs such as In Ghanaโ€™, โ€˜Jammin Nationโ€™, โ€˜Jerusalemโ€™, โ€˜Akwaabaโ€™, among others is admire for his humanitarian work with the United Nations, where he is the Regional UN Goodwill Ambassador.
