Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Seydou Zerbo has been slapped with a GHC2000 fine by the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee after admitting to misconduct after the matchday 2 of the Betpawa premier league Bechem United and Kotoko.

In the match that ended 2-0 for Bechem United, the head coach of Kotoko was captured sweeping the grounds for the referee who handled the game with his cap in a dramatic manner.

READ BELOW THE VERDICT OF DC:

Seydou Zerbo, Head Coach of Asante Kotoko FC is breach of
Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier
League Regulations.
Description:
On 3rd November, 2022, after the match between your club and
Bechem United FC, you attempted to assault the match
officials and made certain gestures which in the opinion of the
association is likely to put the game into disrepute.
Seydou Zerbo pleaded Guilty to the charge with an explanation for mitigation as follows:

At the end of the game, the coach being dissatisfied with the performance of the
referee, confronted him in a manner that wasn’t aggressive as it has been portrayed.

The club does not allow any form of gestures against match officials, hence the club took steps in educating the coach on such act.
The club therefore pleaded with the Committee to consider him as a first-time
offender and to assure the Association that the Club will continue to educate both
players and technical team members on positive ways of reacting during matches.
The Disciplinary Committee finds that SEYDOU ZERBO breached Article
34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.

The Committee however takes note of Seydou Zerbo’s plea for mitigation.
The Committee hereby makes the following decisions:

  1. SEYDOU ZERBO is fined an amount of Two Thousand Ghana Cedis
    (GHc2,000.00).
  2. SEYDOU ZERBO is warned that any future misconduct may result in more severe punishment.
