“E-Ticketing is the major cause of the low attendance of Kotoko games” – Kotoko Supporter’s Chairman

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Supporters chairman in Tema, Okocha, has blamed the introduction of E-ticketing in the Ghana premier league games as the major contributing factor to the low attendance at Kotoko home games.

Chairman Okocha speaking on Kessben FM said since the introduction of the initiative for supporters to buy tickets through the electronic platform, patronage of the Kotoko games at the Baba Yara Stadium has drastically gone down.

Chairman Okocah cited that many Kotoko fans are not well-versed and pretty interested in the digital ways of doing things which has obviously affected the patronage of the games.

“The reason why the supporters don’t come to the stadium is because of the E-ticketing. That’s our problem so they should stop, it won’t help us. The other time someone called me from Atonsu, and he told me that if they don’t take this E-Ticketing out of Ghana football, he won’t Ghana to the stadium again. He says, he does not know how to do it meanwhile he wants to watch the game.

So if it’s not taken out, many of the supporters say, they won’t come. Ghana football association, we beg we you to do it 50-50 for others to come and buy at the stadium so that people who don’t have access to phones will come there and buy.

Since they introduced this e-ticketing, attendance has gone down. People at Obuasi too have called and made this same complaint.” He said.

One of the main reasons for the introduction of E-ticketing in Ghana’s premier league games was to eliminate ticket racketeering and under-declaration of gate proceedings by some clubs.
