NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong Leads By Example -Andrew Dwomoh Osei

On Monday, January 23, 2023, the office of the general secretary of our party, Hon. Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong, officially reported on the chief scribe’s engagement with sections of the business community of our country videlicet: the Vehicles and Asset Dealers Union of Ghana, and the Okada Riders Association. What did you make of that account?

Reading closely the report, General Secretary Meets some Organised Groups and the Business Community in Ghana , the general secretary tripped down memory lane to rekindle the relationship between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the private sector of Ghana which spans over three decades. By extension, he dealt partly, if not wholly, with perceived and disinclination of those two organised groups to government given the prevailing economic conditions.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the extreme any new general secretary of our party would be anticipated to reach in order to restore and build up the party’s popularity and integrity. Considering that such a move is, and must ordinarily either be pursued by government, or its ministries, agencies, and departments, Lawyer Kodua made history on that occasion. It was strategic of him, and he must be commended. From this locus, we can be much convinced to expect more of such forward-looking innovations from him.

What is your opinion about the afore-mentioned precedent set by the general secretary on Friday, 20th January, 2023?

For me, the general secretary has been exemplary in his initiative. Regional and constituency executives must follow suit. The solicitude of the NPP and its government must be persistently portrayed in diverse ways, especially at a time the country is steadily recovering from untold global economic turmoil.

We have much to convince Ghanaians of as there are heaps of lies from the opposition party to debunk. Our stories should not be shelved until the 2024 campaign period. Some must be told under the guise of such engagements and initiatives. Often, we erroneously leave this burdensome responsibility to party communicators at various levels. It is just too much for them! It calls for all hands on deck, and the general secretary has led the path.

Hon. Regional and Constituency Executives, please, break the dormancy. Hon. MMDCEs, kindly help bridge the gap between government and the citizenry at the base. As regional and constituency executives, how many attempts have you made at meeting the grassroots to energise our core after the last regional and constituency levels elections? Respectfully, do you still lead disintegrated regional and constituency parties? Change the game in the supreme interest of the party.

Unless on television, Hon. Member of Parliament, your people are sceptical if you are still their representative. With due respect, you pretend to empathise with them only on campaign trail. When this reality dawns on majority of your constituents, doomsday awaits our party and the country. Even when you are snowed under to the point that it inconveniences you to physically engage your constituents periodically, what challenge do you have to dominate your local radio stations at least once in a fortnight, or even a month?

We cannot forgive ourselves when we offer power cheaply to warmongering National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024. We must act! Let us minimise internal wranglings and acrimonies; comply with party standards to retain power together.
