Calls for John Mahama to go unopposed will be a disaster for the NDC party – Ziega warns

Kessben FM’s political analyst, Nana Frimpong Ziega has cautioned the National Democratic Congress over calls within the party to allow erstwhile president John Dramani Mahama to go unopposed in the party’s incoming flagberership contest.

Some top brass members of the Party have been pushing for John Mahama to go unopposed in the upcoming flagbeareship elections ahead of the 2024 general election.

Ziega reckons the move will be a recipe for a disaster for the party if John Mahama is left to go unopposed through the machinations of some people with their vested interests.

Speaking on Kessben FM’s Breaking News with Nyakoh Aboronomah, Ziega stressed that being a democratic party, it will be highly unbalanced and defeat of purpose if the calls are granted by the party.

He referenced a historical antecedent where the party allowed a contestant to go unopposed leading to a defeat for the party in the 2000 elections, hitherto the famous Swedru declaration.
