Ronaldo Fires Lionel Messi Warning at PSG
Former FIFA World Cup winner Ronaldo Nazario has fired warning at Paris Saint-Germain, claiming that simply having Lionel Messi on their side does not guarantee them UCL success.
Widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation, on being asked about PSG being favourites to win the Champions League, Ronaldo listed down the fact that success in this competition is dependent on a lot of things and that relying solely on individual players won’t take a team long to get knocked out.
“It’s still too early to say who will win the Champions League,” Ronaldo said in an interview with AS.
I played for Real Madrid for almost five seasons, in the Galacticos team and I never won the Champions League. Winning is never mathematical, even if you have the best on your team. It also applies to PSG.”
In a career which saw him ignite the world of football with his performances for Brazil, Real Madrid and Inter Milan among other teams, Ronaldo never managed to win the UEFA Champions League at club level.
Meanwhile, Messi has lifted the UEFA Champions League four times with FC Barcelona and will now target winning the European crown with Paris Saint-Germain alongside his best friend Neymar.
In another interview, Argentinean football legend Juan Roman Riquelme stated that Messi will carry PSG to European glory in the UEFA Champions League this season.
