Let’s recover from the pain, join forces to soldier on – Defeated Ofosu Ampofo says

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has entreated fellow defeated National Democratic Congress national executive aspirants to heal fast and throw their weight behind the newly elected team for the good of the party as it prepares to recapture power in 2024.

In a statement, the defeated chairman of the biggest opposition party said there were needless vilifications, and character assassinations among others that ruined people’s reputations before and during the elections, but the time has come to put all the bitterness behind for the general good of the NDC.

“Let us appreciate that this victory is simply a prelude to the battle ahead of us. I pray that we quickly recover from our individual pain and dented reputation to restore our public morality, so we can join forces to soldier on.

“While this election needlessly witnessed the worse form of inner vilification, personal attacks, and public injury to the hard-won reputation of our Party through various means of public spaces and on social media platforms, this insensitivity would inadvertently affect our restitution, unity, and cohesion needed to engender the collective prosecution of our agenda for victory 2024,” the statement re3ad in part.

As to what is next for him after losing the chairmanship to the former General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Ampofo said he will focus on assisting the new national executives to win power for the NDC.

“I re-dedicate myself to the bigger task of working for victory in 2024 and pledge my unalloyed commitment to work even harder for the party together with the elected National officers, and the rank and file of our great party to achieve our ultimate goal of regaining power from the NPP in 2024,” he pledged.
