Cedi Appreciation: GUTA calls on trading community to reasonably reduce prices of goods & services

The Ghana cedi in the last few days has seen appreciable progress against the dollar which currently stands at around GHC12.50 to $1.

The president of the Ghana Union Traders Association speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi urged the trading public to strike a reasonable average that will reflect the marginal progress of the cedi.

He noted that though it might be difficult to hysterically reduce prices of goods and services now due to the fact that some traders already bought goods at higher dollar rates but urged the traders to at least consider the consuming public.

“As the value of the Cedi begins to appreciate, GUTA wishes to appeal to members of the business community to also adjust prices of goods and services accordingly, to make the consuming public feel the impact of this positive trend,” the statement added.

“We hope to see further and continuous appreciation of the Cedi and envisage that the economy will turn around in the shortest possible time,” GUTA said
