We have the team but our coaches lack the confidence to drop players like Partey – Sarfo Gyamfi
Former Black Stars defender and Asante Kotoko legend, Sarfo Gyamfi reckons, the Black Stars team that got eliminated from the Qatar 2022 World group stage has the potential to be a great side in the not-too-long future.
The outspoken ex-player however ruminates any coach who will be appointed to lead the Black Stars following Otto Addo’s exit should be confident to drop some big-name players in the team.
Speaking on Kessben TV with Sir Joe Laka, Sarfo Gyamfi stressed that, he would have dropped Thomas Partey in Ghana’s last group game with Uruguay if he was the coach.
“We have the team but our coaches lack the confidence to drop some big-name players. That has been the problem with the team.
Any coach which is appointed should have the confidence to drop these players. He should be bold and do that. If we keep this team for another four years, the team will be one of the best teams in the World.
Watch the Portugal game against Switzerland, Cristiano Ronaldo was dropped and the young player who replaced him did so well and even scored.
For me, they should have the courage, we have the men, there must be no consideration, the captain and his vice should have been dropped.
Thomas Partey for me should have been dropped. You can’t be pulling your legs like that, for the last match I would have dropped him” Sarfo Gyamfi said.
