Andre Onana sacked from Cameroon team after questioning coach tactics

Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana is now on the way to exiting the country’s World Cup squad due to a disagreement with the manager.

El Partidazo de Cope’s Helena Condis has reported about the situation of the Inter goalkeeper after it emerged that the player has been excluded from Cameroon’s game against Serbia, with the reporter stating that Onana has ‘abandoned’ the World Cup and there are tensions within the Cameroon camp already.

The disagreement with the manager Rigobert Song relate to the fact that the manager wants a more traditional goalkeeping style from him, but the Inter man doesn’t want to do that. Samuel Eto’o did try to interfere in the situation, such that Onana stayed in the squad but the decision from the player is irreversible and he wants to leave the squad now.

Onana did feature in the side’s opening game against Switzerland, as they lost 1-0. They will have to win the game against Serbia to stay in the competition.
