Newmont vs Ahafo residents clash, one dead, others injured (Video)
Some of the residents of Ahafo Kenyasi clashed with security personnel of Newmont Ghana in the Ahafo region.
Following the clash, one person died after he was allegedly shot by Newmont security.
According to eyewitnesses, some of the residents of Ahafo went to a nearby bush to cut trees and as they were returning the incident happened.
Kessben FM’s reporter in the Ahafo region reporting on Breaking News with Nyakoh Abronomah noted while they were coming back from the bush with their Motorking, the security at Newmont confronted them which triggered that clash.
The security personnel is reported to have opened gunshots which also triggered the residents to throw stones at them.
One among the residents, unfortunately, got hit by a bullet and passed away on the spot.
The demise of their friend infuriated them causing them to put on fire some cars which were parked at the Newmont compound.
The Kenyasi police had to be reinforced with the Goaso police before calm was able to be restored.
