High Prices of Fuel: Ghanaian MP calls on Parliament to sit only two days in a week
The minority member of parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko has called on Parliament to sit two(2) days in a week due to the high prices of fuel products.
Commenting on the explanatory memorandum of the business schedule for the house next week, he expressed his displeasure over the high prices of fuel.
According to him, it cost GH¢3000.00 to fill his fuel tank.” Mr. Speaker looking at the kind of business that we have is it possible to concentrate, we can stay for six hours a day instead of coming for two hours. Can’t the house sit two days a week?” He lamented
The majority leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs who doubles as MP for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, in his response stated that the MP suggestion is in line with the proposal by former president John Mahama to organizations should allow those who can work from home to do so because of fuel situation.
He described the call as an “apocalyptic declaration” from a member and queried what the effect will be on national productivity and GPD.
” I think it is an unfortunate call that parliament should for just two days” He Said.
