Qatar 2022 Worldcup: Ghana sports ministry accepts to sponsor fans to Qatar
With barely three weeks to the start of Worldcup in Qatar, checks by Kessben Sports have revealed that the sports ministry will sponsor some Ghanaian football fans to cheer the Black Stars on at the 2022 Worldcup.
Hon Mustapha Ussif, the sports minister when asked about the budget of the country to the Mundial however said the incentives and other bonuses of the Black Stars will be made public when the team lands in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.
According to him, negotiations have been held with the players and a budget has been made available to cater for the team throughout the entire tournament.
Mustapha Hamid reiterated that due to the current economic hardship the country is facing currently, bonuses will remain the same as the last Worldcup Ghana participated in (Brazil 2014)
“We have negotiated with the Black Stars on all their incentives as far as this World Cup is concerned but once we get to the tournament, we will make it public to Ghanaians.
“Everybody will know how much the Black Stars are going to take. What we have indicated to them is that we are not going to increase what they had in Brazil, so whatever they had in Brazil stays because of the current economic circumstances.
“We have budgeted for the entire tournament, and where we are going to reach will determine how much we are going to spend, so until we finish the tournament we can’t tell you how much we’re going to spend. But we have a budget estimated for the entire tournament.” said Hon Mustapha Ussif.
The Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif in September revealed that the state funds will not be used to fly supporters to the Qatar WorldCup.
He said the government of Ghana is engaging with corporate companies to fund the conveyance of fans to 2022 Qatar.
