No food for teacher trainees at schools is due to astronomical shot up in prices of food – Ministry of Education
The Ministry of Education has responded to the letter from the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education ( PRINCOF) to the Ministry of Education, regarding shortage of food for trainees.
“Principals of Colleges of Education have been trying really very hard to feed trainee teachers in recent times as a result of current market trends.
“Prices of food items have shot up astronomically and food suppliers have refused to supply any food items to colleges because of the indebtedness to these suppliers,” PRINCOF said.
Reacting to the letter on Kessben Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi, the Public Relations Officer for Ministry of Education, Akwasi Kwarteng stated that, the ministry is working to swiftly resolve outstanding financial obligations to Colleges of Education to help fend for trainee teachers.
He revealed that the reasons behind this allegation are that, prices of all food items have shot up astronomically, and food suppliers have refused to supply any food items to colleges because of the current inflation rate.
According to him, discussions are being held with the Finance Ministry to swiftly resolve all outstanding attributions or commitments to the Colleges of Education.
