C/R: Negligence of nurses left 12-year-old girl to die, eyewitnesses fight nurses on duty
Negligence of nurses on duty on Sunday, October 30, 2022 evening at the Emergency Unit of Ajumako Government Hospital in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region caused a twelve-year-old girl to lose her life painfully after a short illness.
The report gathered indicates that the little girl was sick and rushed to the Ajumako Government Hospital around 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 30, 2022, and was sent to the Emergency ward but this girl was left behind without any nurse on duty attending to her.
Sources say at time the child was put sent to the emergency ward, the nurses on duty were flipping on their phones playing games, chatting, and making conversations among themselves leaving this girl sleeping in a plastic chair unattended.
The little girl was left with her mother alone since they went to the hospital till 11:30 PM-midnight still was not unattended to.
The situation of the little girl became worse which made her mother start to complain and cried uncontrollably.
The report says, the nurses there started to insult and shouted at the mother of the girl telling her to keep quiet for she was not the only person whose daughter is sick and had been sent to the emergency ward.
The girl then died in the plastic chair she was sitting without attending to.
An eyewitness who was at the hospital at that moment narrated to Kessben Media’s Nana Tawiah that, after the girl died, and the mother was crying, the nurses were then again shouting at her to stop crying for she is not the only person her daughter has died.
Some eyewitnesses said this bad treatment of the nurses made them very angry and exchanged words with the nurses which the nurses said nobody can do anything to them not even President Akuffo Addo.
The behavior of the nurses there was very bad and unacceptable in society according to the eyewitness present.
They said this isn’t the first time negligence of nurses in the Ajumako Government Hospital had led to a loss of life.
Meanwhile, the majority of the residents in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District are calling on the Ministry of Health to as possible transfer some of the workers for their poor ethics to work and the negligence that are killing innocent souls in the District.
They have threatened not to seek medical treatment at the facility anymore but will rather seek medical treatment at the various Private hospitals in the District.
Meanwhile, attempts to get the hospital authorities for the reaction to the issue proved futile.
