Truthfully speaking where we stand as country is not good but timing to sack Ofori Atta is not the best – Majority Leader
Majority leader in Ghana’s parliament Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu says the timing for calls to sack Finance Minister, Ofori Atta is not the best considering the ongoing IMF discussions.
Speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu noted that he actually met the Majority MPs over the move which he reasoned with them but underscored they should hold on due to the IMF discussions which is led by the Finance Minister, Ofori Atta.
According to him, he briefed the president, Akufo Addo about the Majority’s move which they had arranged to meet on Wednesday but unfortunately the Majority let the cat out of the bag on Tuesday.
“I met them and it was about Ken Ofori Atta who they say is part of the mess so he should leave. I shared my idea about their move and told them that if this call was 3 months ago there will be the difference.
The IMF group will be in Ghana next and after meeting with them, a week later budget will be presented which is 15th November.
I told them I had an engagement with the president they did not accept it. I told the president and scheduled to have met them on Wednesday.
That was the conversation and when you go to the constituencies that is what most people are saying. It is the same thing. Truthfully speaking where we stand as a country is not good. Let us accept our finances is not good. No one is downplaying that” Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said.
