2022 World Cup: Razak Pimpong backs Ghana to qualify from a tough group

Former Black Stars player Razak Pimpong believes the current crop of players at the Black Stars can make it out of the group stage in Qatar.

Ghana qualified for the 2022 World Cup after beating Nigeria in the playoffs. They have been placed in Group H where they will face Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

A section of Ghanaians are pessimistic about Ghana’s chances but Pimpong is positive.

“I think we have a chance. I don’t know how the final squad is going to look like but looking at how the players are doing around the world, I think we have a good chance to qualify. Anything can happen,” he stated on countdown Qatar.

Pimpong played for Ghana at the 2006 World Cup. He recounts his World Cup memories fondly.

“It was something special. I was born in Jamestown and you don’t get many opportunities around there. Standing in the stadium and playing in the World Cup was something that I will never forget,” he said.

Ghana will face Switzerland in their final friendly match in November.
