It’s sad & not fair for Gov’t to support Kotoko financially in Africa and snub Hearts – Alhaji Akambe
Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak Alhaji Akambe has revealed that Accra Hearts of Oak did not receive any financial aid from the Government of Ghana as part of their preparation towards the confederation cup campaign.
The outspoken phobian speaking with Kwame Mikke on Kessben TV’s Kick Sports show stressed that no help came from the Government despite their request.
“Two teams in Ghana qualified to play in Africa. When they paid money to support the other team, did they give some to us? You see sometimes let’s say the truth to ourselves.
Even for a creche student, GHC10 won’t be enough for him for a day. We know what’s going on that’s why we have to sacrifice. We are doing our best, that’s why we are taking GHC10 at the gate for the popular stand.
What I can say about that issue is that it is very sad. The team are going through a whole lot. Nobody in Ghana will say he does not need help. The dollar is almost 11 Cedis while you are about to travel. Nobody can say he does not need help but you give money to one team and leaving the other is not fair.
Who told you we did not ask? During the NC they made it clear that the teams who will go to Africa will be supported by the ministry. You will hear some people saying it was about the Champions league. Is the Confederation cup not part of the African competition? You just put that aside for us to concentrate on Sunday’s return match” Alhaji Akambe said.
Kotoko who represented Ghana in the CAF Champions League received GHS1 million from the ministry to support their campaign.
Hearts of Oak host AS Bamako in the second leg of the confederation at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday after losing 3-0 in the first leg in Mali.
