Staying relevant in the industry comes with sacrifice – Tic

Hiplife artiste Nana Kweku Okyere Dua, popularly known as TiC in showbiz circles, has stated that staying relevant as an artist is not about making the music. He explained that it comes with lots of work. According to him, artist branding plays a crucial role in staying relevant in the music industry.

Tic told Nana Yaw Gyebi, host of Adwumapa Mbre on Connect 97.1fm, that there’s a lot an artist needs to do to keep up with the industry.

“Staying relevant in the music industry comes with a lot of attributes. It’s not just making the music but what
you are doing. What kind of music are you putting out, and how do you want people to see you? Do you want to be a commercial product or just any other artist? These are questions you should ask yourself as an artiste, and while you ask, you need to tow a certain lane that would help you not to inflate yourself and
many other things. You have to be able to control your TV appearances, where you should go and don’t and even the kind of people you associate yourself with.”

The musician explained that apart from these attributes, staying away from negative energy, showing love, and praying for God’s wisdom is very important.

“You have to be able to make the right decisions and have genuine people to advise you. Above all, pray. Ask God for your wisdom, stay away from bad energies and learn to show love.”

TiC hinted at his new single release, ‘Wayo’, featuring hip life artistes Joe Frazie and Samuel Gee.
