Update: Akyem Abuakwa flood: Over 1000 rendered homeless (Video)

According to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), over one thousand people have been displaced following Wednesday’s heavy downpour at Akyem Abuakwa in the eastern region of Ghana.

Some areas in Akyem Abuakwa were hit by the flood following close to 20 hours of non-stop rainfall.

An update by the National Disaster Management Organisation on Wednesday indicates over 1000 people were displaced by the flood.

Kyebi, Denkyemboa, Odaa and Gyinase are the towns which were heavily hit by the flood.

Residents say, regardless of the torrential rainfall every year, this is the first time a flood of such nature has occurred.
