General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nkekiah, has apparently said that challenging Chairman Ofosu Ampofo will not cause any problems in their party.
Ghanaian pollster Dr Smart however reckons if the General Secretary make that move, the peaceful front of the opposition party will be muddled.
Speaking on Kessben FM’s Breaking News, Dr Smart Sarpong underscored that at this point it will not be prudent for such political competition in the party.
“It is not necessary. For Asiedu Nketiah to contest for the chairmanship now, won’t help the party. You see the NDC is enjoying a relatively peaceful front so they have to be also united at the grassroots.
I don’t know what again he’s looking for. The relationship between him and Chairman Ofosu Ampofo has been cordial as we all know. The relationship between Chairman Ofosu Ampofo and the flagbearer, former president John Mahama has also been very cordial.
This makes the root united knowing that the top is united. Political competition brings a whole lot of disunity, internal wranglings and others. It will destabilise the party if he contest” Dr Smart Sarpong said.
