We are lucky to have our big stars agree to play for us now, the Worldcup fits them more unlike the AFCON – George Amoako
Executive committee member of Ghana Football Association, George Amoako says the Ghanaians players abroad who play relatively big clubs in Europe and South America are not much compatible with the African game.
According to the Chief Executive officer of King Faisal Football Club, there is so much rough play in the African game, especially in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) that makes it quite difficult for these players who play in the top teams in Europe to flow with.
George Amoako speaking on Kessben TV’s Extra Time Sports said Ghana is lucky to have their big players to compete in the Worldcup with their colleagues they have been playing with in Europe.
“The African Football, the AFCON is not like European Football. In Africa, there are so much rough play but in Europe, there isn’t much rough play and tackles.
Football in Africa is much more about hard play with a small flair. At that point, if you pick such players for the tournament without not being involved for a while, you will not get the result.
Luckily at this time that we need them, they have agreed to come and play. They are going to meet their colleagues in America and Europe. They play with them in the same teams, same environment and if they dominate your team you are lucky to fair well” George said.
